People who are unable to work due to the risk of infection should also be able to receive compensation during the first three months of the next year. The government and the January parties have agreed to this, reports Swedish radio Ekot.

On Tuesday, the government presented a proposal that the number of days affected can be compensated for doubling, to 184 days this year. However, then there was no proposal on the possibility of receiving compensation also next year.

Following an agreement between the Liberals, the Center Party and the government, the possibility of compensation will remain for another three months.

– Now we can give notice until March 31. Then we will have to follow this pandemic and see if we need to spread it further, but we will have to get back to that, Bengt Eliasson, spokesman for the Liberals for Functional Issues and LSS, tells the radio.

Affected persons can receive compensation of SEK 804 per day before taxes from 1 July. This applies, among other things, to people who are at risk of becoming seriously ill from COVID-19 and their family members, as well as parents of children who have recently been seriously ill.

According to Ekot, the cost of the extension is estimated at SEK 300 million and will be reserved in the first exchange budget next year.
