On Wednesday, several positive messages arrived for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. He was declared the winner in both Wisconsin and Michigan, so he is approaching the 270 electoral votes required to be elected president.
“I am not here to declare that we have won, but I am here to report that when the count is over, we believe we will be the winners,” Joe Biden said Wednesday at a news conference in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.
President Donald Trump So far it has not accepted the losses in the states, but has demanded that votes be re-counted in Wisconsin and, at the same time, that the counting of votes in Michigan be stopped. In addition, Republicans are initiating several trials in Pennsylvania, where a large number of votes remain to be counted.
Shortly after Biden was named the winner in Wisconsin, the Trump campaign announced a press conference in downtown Philadelphia. Initially, information emerged that it would take place outside the Convention Center, where vote counting is still ongoing.
The message prompted hundreds of protesters to march on the site to protest Trump. One of them, Alec Hersh, says he was sitting at home watching television when news of the press conference began to spread. He quickly arranged a poster with the words “count my vote” and went down to the place, where most of the media also gathered.
– We have a tradition in the United States that power must be transferred peacefully. Trump is actively trying to challenge him, but we can’t allow that to happen, Alec Hersh tells DN.
Next to him is Rontasha Crawford and Clarence Peay. They say they are dismayed by post-election events and the consequences that conflicts over the outcome could have for American democracy.
– I’m here to show my support for Biden and to let Trump know that I want every vote to count, says Clarence Peay.
– The whole world is afraid now. I have been in contact with friends in Europe and they all wonder what will happen here, says Rontasha Crawford.
While the protesters was on the scene, yet new news broke about the Trump campaign press conference. Instead of being held at the polling station, it was held at the Philadelphia International Airport.
At the press conference, both President Eric Trump’s son and his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani spoke and went on to claim that Democrats are responsible for the widespread voter fraud. Therefore, it is intended to continue the fight in court.
– We will win Pennsylvania, but they are trying to trick us into victory, says Eric Trump, listing a number of examples of what he claims are wrongdoing.
Rudy Giuliani spoke at the press conference about the most “undemocratic” electoral process he has ever seen.
– We’ll see how many dead have voted, says Rudy Giuliani.
There is currently no evidence of voter fraud in Pennsylvania. Both Governor Tom Wolf and the Philadelphia city government promised Wednesday night that all votes in the state will be counted, and poll workers are working around the clock to complete the vote.
