Police, ambulances and rescue services received an alarm about a fire in an apartment in the Andersberg district of Gävle on Wednesday afternoon.
It turned out to be a kitchen fire that couldn’t be controlled.
– It must have started to burn in a kitchen and a person in the apartment must have tried to put out the fire, but the fire appears to have recovered, says Magnus Jansson Klarin, press spokesman for the police in the central region.

He explains that there was no information that anyone was injured in connection with the fire.
– It’s complicated on the site, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.
According to the rescue service, there are no people left in the apartment and it does not appear that the fire has spread.
– I cannot say that we have it under control but we are working with the fire within the department. There have been open flames, say internal officials from the Gästrike rescue service.
At 5:59 p.m., the police wrote on their website that the fire had been extinguished.
