The Turkish extremist group “Gray Wolves” has disbanded in France, said French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin.

The group “incites discrimination and hatred and is involved in acts of violence,” Darmanin wrote on Twitter.

The announcement comes two days after France decided to ban the group. The decision was made after an Armenian monument was vandalized in France this weekend. Among the scrawled slogans was the name of the Gray Wolves.

The memorial is for the massacres of Armenians in the then Ottoman Empire in connection with World War I, which much of the world, including France, now classifies as genocide.

However, the issue is highly charged and Turkey, the successor to the Ottoman Empire, has a strong line that the hundreds of thousands or even millions of dead were simply the result of war.
