Calls to the national information number 113 13 increase considerably in line with the increase in the spread of the infection.
Now SOS Alarm attracts callers to try mainly to find the information on the authorities’ websites.
The national information number 113 13 received around 3,000 calls on Monday, according to the SOS Alarm, responsible for the service. The daily figure will be compared to the around 30 daily calls that staff received in 2019, and the total calls last week that amounted to 14,000.
Many callers have questions about how to get tested and what to do if they know someone who later tested positive.
– The infection is increasing, we are beginning to put ourselves in a situation like this spring, and there will also be some doubts about vaccination, although there is still no vaccine. Calls are conceivable to rise even further, says Björn Skoglund, Operations Specialist at SOS Alarm.
One hour response time
Approximately 10 to 20 operators work to receive calls. Skoglund says that the growing number of calls leads to longer response times, which during the day amount to 20-30 minutes and sometimes up to an hour.
Therefore, SOS Alarm calls on the public to primarily try to find the information on the authorities’ websites, for example krisinformation.se and 1177.se.
– You should always look up the information yourself first. It’s important to say that the numbers that do exist, and then I’m mostly talking about 1177 and 113 13, should be used with common sense so that those who really need to turn around don’t have to wait long for an answer, says Skoglund. .
“Must provide good service”
It emphasizes that the telephone service is there to help those who have difficulties finding information on their own.
– At 113 13 we are happy to help. I think the most frequent callers are those who have a hard time finding information or don’t even have internet access. It is clear that we must serve them well, he says.
