Man stuck in solidified asphalt – took several hours to get loose

The alarm about the alleged work accident came at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. At the scene, police and rescue services found the man in the solidified liquid.

– I was downstairs doing maintenance work on a tank containing liquid asphalt. It solidified and stuck, then did not come loose. It’s been a long story, says Leif Svensson of the Hörby Rescue Service.

The work of letting go the man of substance became, according to Leif Svensson, cumbersome.

– After many buts and yes, we got rid of him. First we had to cut off the tank and try to get rid of this syrup-like thing, it’s like tar, like honey, very slimy. We worked for almost three hours before we could get it out.

– He’s quite clingy, but he’s been mindful and talkative the whole time. He has some crush injuries to his legs because they were a bit bad for him, says Leif Svensson.

Police write on their website that the man was taken to hospital after the incident and that they will document the scene of the accident and conduct questioning with any witnesses to the incident.
