Earlier Monday, a social media post by Zlatan Ibrahimovic received a lot of attention. The superstar, who currently leads the Serie A shooters but has left the Swedish national team, posted a picture from his time at Blågult and wrote: “Long time no see.”
One who pressed the “like” button? The right back of the national team Mikael Lustig.
– Yes, exactly. What he does now … has always been said to be absolutely amazing, but he keeps driving. It’s amazing. He also likes to have good timing, he knows there are a few days to go before the selection. I think it’s a twinkle in your eye that exposes it, says Lustig.
On Wednesday, the captain of the national team Janne Andersson presents her squad for the next international matches, against Denmark, Croatia and France.
“I understand it’s fun to speculate, but we’ve done it before and then nothing happened so we’ll see what happens this time,” says Lustig.
The AIK defender does not believe the 39-year-old will return to Blågult.
– I do not think so. The question has been posed before and, to my understanding, neither Janne nor Zlatan have communicated. That contact must be made before it is possible.
Lustig also believes that Ibrahimovic should receive the Ballon d’Or, the award for the best Swedish player of the year on the men’s side, for his efforts in Milan.
– Yes. He’s been without national teams for a year, or at least a few matches, and look what he’s done in Milan since he got there, so… He came to a wounded Milan and has made it a top team. He’s definitely their best player, so yeah, I think so.
Ibrahimovic has already won the Ballon d’Or eleven times. The award will be awarded at the end of November.
