Stockholm region crown warns: no one is safe

Björn Eriksson, director of health and medical care in the Stockholm region, describes the development as if the inhabitants of the region “lost control” by following the recommendations to reduce the spread of the infection.

– We want to point out that it is serious again. We must go back to what we achieved in the spring, that is, follow the recommendations of the Public Health Agency so that the infection subsides, he says.

The background is the increasing spread of the coronavirus, which accelerated again in late September after a decline during the summer and early fall, according to statistics from the Public Health Agency on the number of confirmed cases per week.

A disgusting disease

Eriksson says there is “really only one explanation” for the increase.

– We have started to meet more and meet in smaller areas, and above all we know that it is at home and in the workplace where it spreads, says and continues:

– This means, for example, that we should not go to parties with friends, that we should not go to tight spaces, that we should work remotely if we have the opportunity to do so, and that we should not go to work or travel by communications. if we have a cold and symptoms.

TT: What do you want to say to those who do not hear the call?

– It’s a disgusting disease, no one is safe. Regardless of your age, you can become seriously ill, need intensive care, and in the worst case, die. It is difficult and erratic. We don’t want anyone to get infected, says Eriksson.

“It is complex”

On Sunday, the Stockholm Region stopped the opportunity to order corona tests for four days, following a sharp increase in orders that led to queues.

Björn Eriksson believes it is “difficult to say” whether the region should have been better prepared for the surge that occurred.

– They have tried to expand capacity all the time. It’s a huge device with a lot of logistics, to send tests home, have protective gear, distribute it to the right lab and test it. There are many elements that should work. I respect the fact that it is complex.

20 patients in IVA

The region, also as before, will publish status reports on covid-19 on Tuesdays and Fridays, Region Stockholm writes in a press release.

Currently, 20 patients in the Stockholm Region are cared for in intensive care, while the number of patients in geriatrics and emergency hospitals receiving care is 183. A total of 203 patients need hospital care due to covid-19 in the Stockholm Region.
