The battle for European squares intensifies at the Allsvenskan. On Sunday Elfsborg beat IFK Norrköping at home in one of the first matches. And during the night it was up to Djurgården, Hammarby and Häcken to answer. Only Hammarby and Häcken met at Tele2 Arena in a match that started quite evenly.
1-0 in the first half
Alexander Söderlund made it 1-0 in the 17th minute after a post from Ahmed Yasin. The result stood out half. The second half continued evenly, where Hammarby had most of the ball possession, while BK Häcken had a couple of strong counterattacks. The home team had been desperate to control possession of the ball and did not create many scoring chances in the 90 minutes.
Overthrown kept low
However, Häcken came close to scoring the match a couple of times in the second half, but David Oustedt had to make a couple of good saves.
The obstacle seemed to be heading towards three safe points, but Aimar Sher wanted something else. The young midfielder had been the best in a hard-fought Bajen and secured a spot in the 91st minute. His left-footed shot looked behind Pontus Dahlberg and set the final score at 1-1. Still, Sher was very self-critical after the game.
– I never score points, so I am surprised to score goals myself, he says.
What else do you say about the effort?
– I’m the worst in the field in the first half. I drop the ball in unnecessary situations, I don’t know if it’s because of concentration or if the pressure from Häcken hit me, but I’m incredibly bad in the first half. The hedge was compact and we had a hard time. We don’t create much either. In the second half we have good pressure but we didn’t create clear chances, we hoped for the best.
With the crossing of Stockholm, the battle for European squares is still open.
