Umeå needed to score points in the tough away game against Kif Örebro to pressure the team just above the relegation line.
But the match at Behrn Arena was decided more or less at half-time, to Örebro’s advantage.
Much of it was about Karin Lundin.
First, he made it 1-0 on penalties in the 18th minute, after a hand in the box from a Umeå player.
Shortly after, Freja Olofsson came 2-0.
And in the 30th minute it reached Karin Lundin again, when he scored the third goal of the game for Örebro and his eleventh of the season.
3-0 at halftime, but Örebro wasn’t happy there.
Umeå remains at the bottom
It’s true that Umeå had a little more to say in the second half, but when it came to managing his chances, Örebro was still a clinician.
Cali Farquharson and Nellie Lilja extended Örebro’s lead to 5-0 and put the home team in a comfortable lead.
The home team also took the opportunity to allow the 16-year-old to promise Emilia Pelgander in the match.
– We do not have many more situations than we pretend. I will not say that we are one hundred percent, but today the balls are sitting. We have trained, trained, trained and trained, trained and trained to establish scoring opportunities. Today they do, Örebro’s coach Stefan Ärnsved tells Nerikes Allehanda after the match.
Umeå finally got a reduction, but has to reload for two very important matches in the final two rounds against Djurgården and
Eskilstuna looking for a new contract. But opportunity lives on at its finest.
Right now the team is in the relegation zone, at the same points as Piteå just above the relegation line, but with a more contested match and worse goal difference.
