The man is reported to be in his 30s and lives in Nice.

– We are trying to find out what his role is in all this, says a police source to the AFP news agency.

It was Thursday morning when a 21-year-old man, armed with a knife, entered the Notre Dame church in the center of Nice. He stabbed several people, three of whom died in the attack, before the police shot him. He is now being treated in hospital with serious injuries. The act is classified as an Islamist terrorist attack.

On Thursday, a 47-year-old man was arrested and heard. He is also suspected of having contact with the 21-year-old just before the attack.
