Värmland has confirmed 1,609 cases of corona infection so far, representing an increase of 132 cases in 24 hours. So far the death of 75 people with covid-19 has been confirmed. In recent days, local outbreaks have occurred and during the construction of a school in Arvika, a third of the workforce has been confirmed to be infected, writes Arvika Nyheter.
– We are concerned about development and therefore, after a dialogue with the infection control doctor, I decided to stay with a maximum of 50 people at public events and public meetings, says Governor Georg Andrén, who that same day had visited Karlstad Central Hospital.
How was the situation there?
– After talking to the staff, I can say that the load is not that high yet, but we want it to stay that way.
Värmland has had a relatively low number of infected since last spring, but now not only is the number of confirmed infected increasing, but also the proportion of those examined who have the infection has risen to 6 percent, Andrén says. Also, the opportunity to prove yourself has started to hit the roof. Tracking infections is also exposed to significant challenges.
Georg Andrén describes how the infection now spreads between the ages of 20 and 30, after good compliance for many months:
– But now we see a certain relaxation. We must improve at keeping our distance and avoid larger events where the infection spreads.
Do you think you will introduce new local restrictions?
– There are no decisions on local restrictions in Värmland. But there we are ready if necessary.
