According to information in the newspaper, the dismissals are the consequence of a prolonged internal conflict. However, the chief operating officer of the gynecology clinic, Bodil Ehn, does not want to comment on the information, but refers to the director of medical care, Kjell Ivarsson.

– For the sake of all employees, I do not want to comment on it, I am afraid of everyone, says Bodil Ehn to BLT.

When all cancer surgeons disappear from Blekinge Hospital, so does the competition to operate on women with gynecological cancers, such as cervical cancer and ovarian cancer.

According to the health director, Kjell Ivarsson, the goal is, however, that the activities that exist today can continue. He says they work to ensure that patients are not affected, that is, they have to go to other counties for surgery.

– This is a serious and priority issue for me at this time. We are working on different fronts to be able to maintain the cutting edge experience that is available at Blekinge, Kjell Ivarsson tells BLT.

He also does not want to comment on the information about an internal conflict, but tells the newspaper “that there are slightly different images of what happened.”

At Blekinge, around 100 women are operated on each year for gynecological cancer and it is one of the few hospitals in Sweden that performs this type of operation, writes BLT.

Three chief doctors have written an open letter to the director of health and hospitals due to the situation that has arisen at the Women’s Clinic. They want the problems of the Women’s Clinic to be raised in the organization of the region.

“The division within the clinic remains and we are now faced with the fact that a well-functioning business is being demolished. Blekinge and Småland women with genital cancer are at risk of being severely beaten, “they write in the letter according to BLT.
