Earthquake between Greece and Turkey

The earthquake occurred around 7 pm, 19 kilometers northwest of the Greek region of Samos.

According to AFP, which refers to the United States Geological Survey, USGS, the earthquake occurred in western Turkey and had a magnitude of 7.0.

There are currently no data on injuries.

Films posted on social media show landslides from collapsed buildings in Turkey. The BBC also reports on images showing landslides in the city of Izmir.

Local media write that buildings were damaged in Samos.

The movies also show major floods due to the earthquake.

In 1999, Izmir was hit by a strong earthquake that claimed the lives of some 17,000 people.
