Since promoting Sirius in 2017, the two teams have met seven times in an entirely Swedish context. It has always ended with a victory for AIK. Tonight the curse was broken.
Sirius missed shooting star Stefano Vecchia, who received a red card in the match against Djurgården. On the AIK side, Mikael Lustig was back in the starting eleven and Erik Otieno made his starting debut in the Allsvenskan.
The first half it was initially poor in possibilities. As soon as one team created an opportunity, the other was there and broke.
But in the 30th minute a penalty situation arose that provoked reactions. Sirius Laorent Shabani turned around with AIK’s Eric Kahl and fell into the penalty area. But the judge decided to release him.

– We are satisfied with many parts of the game. So I consider AIK to be in good shape. They were skilled defensively and we never managed to bring them down. We got the first half where we wanted to. In the second half it became meatier and tighter.
Rydström reacted strongly to AIK’s Sebastian Larsson’s tackle on Axel Björnström and received a warning. After the match, he regretted his behavior:
– Before the games, I think I should be calm, but I am who the people are and sometimes it is hot. You make worse decisions when you get angry. It is often ineffective and you have the judges against you. On the other hand, you show that you care, Rydström said.
AIK is now 10th in the Allsvenskan with five rounds to play. Sirius is four points ahead in seventh place.
