Stockholm politicians are willing to close museums, libraries and gyms unless the new crown’s recommendations cut visits.
– We keep the city gym and swimming open until further notice. But of course, if we see that the visits that follow these new and more stringent recommendations do not decrease significantly, then we must make a new decision. And it can happen tomorrow in that case, says Karin Ernlund (C), Sports Citizens Council in Stockholm.
New recommendations from the Swedish Public Health Agency for, among others, Stockholm County arrived on Thursday afternoon. “Refrain from staying in closed environments such as stores, shopping centers, museums, libraries, bathrooms and gyms,” writes the authority.
– We hope that people will take it and not visit the gym or swimming if it is not absolutely necessary or to accompany the children, says Karin Ernlund.
The same applies to the city library, according to the Jonas Naddebo (C) citizen cultural council in Stockholm.
– We are open but willing to change. Don’t visit libraries unless you really need to, he says.
Friskis & Svettis in Stockholm is also open, but encourages everyone to change and shower at home. Kats spokeswoman Malin Selander writes in an email to TT that the gym chain is also open, as there has been no requirement to keep it closed. “If the Swedish Public Health Agency issues new guidelines, we will of course follow them,” he writes.
