In the previous quarter, Spotify’s paying users (premium customers) increased from 130 million to 138 million.
The Swedish tech giant is now reporting new figures for the third quarter of the year.
It shows that the number of premium customers has increased to 144 million. That’s an increase of 31 million users, or 27 percent, in one year.
In total, the number of active users has grown to 320 million. This is a 29 percent increase in one year, corresponding to 72 million new users.
When Spotify reports, great emphasis is placed on the growth of premium customers. And the tech company continues to expect strong growth: By the end of the year, it thinks it will pay between 150 and 154 million.
In the quarterly report, the company also writes that the business has developed to a “high level”, that the number of users has grown strongly, that a few paying users, below four percent, have abandoned the service of transmission and that revenues are slightly higher than expected.
However, Spotify can’t make a profit this quarter either. The technology company suffers a loss of 40 million euros, which corresponds to just over 416 million SEK. However, it is significantly less than the expected loss of EUR 82 million, and less than the previous quarter’s loss of EUR 167 million.
For the fourth quarter, Spotify expects a loss of between 32 and 112 million euros.
