The government closes the latest investigation, but the threat from the Left Party to overthrow the government has not disappeared.

That’s what Jonas Sjöstedt, leader of the resigning party, says.

– We see it as the government backing down, but they have to go back a bit more, he says.

On Thursday morning the message came that the Social Democrats say no to the latest investigation. Instead, the government goes ahead with the proposal that has been agreed upon by two of the three parties, PTK and the Confederation of Swedish Business.

The leader of the Left party, Jonas Sjöstedt, has threatened to topple the government if it goes ahead with the bill on the modification of labor legislation that has produced the latest investigation.

Sjöstedt: a partial victory

He calls today’s government announcement a victory.

– It is a partial victory that this miserable investigation was finally buried, Sjöstedt tells Aftonbladet.

– But now the solution must be based on what LO wants the agreement presented and LO must be allowed to negotiate without threatening the legislation.

However, the government announcement during the press conference is that it will proceed with the agreement that the Confederation of Swedish Companies and PTK have agreed upon. But according to Jonas Sjöstedt, there is now an opening for new negotiations between the parties.

– I notice that the government is opening for new negotiations and there is an opening for LO to be satisfied, he says.

What is the problem with existing agreements?

– You have pointed out that this also breaks job security and does not solve problems with precarious employment and planning, says Sjöstedt.

The threat of a government crisis has not gone away

If Lo is not satisfied and goes ahead with the existing agreement, then Sweden may face a new government crisis.

– Yes, if the government goes ahead, there will be a government crisis. We see it as if the government has backed down, but it has to back down a bit more, says Jonas Sjöstedt.

It cannot respond when the threat of a government crisis can become a reality, it depends on the negotiations of the parties.

But at the same time, the government continues to review the responses to the consultation. Is closed

– Yes. it’s strange that they do. The message is clear that there will be no laser research.

Liberal party leader Nyamko Sabuni writes on Facebook that they will not accept LO having more influence over an agreement between the parties.

– Yes, they make a bit of noise, but such a small party will not dare to go to the by-elections.
