Lund’s Crown Measures: Close the Adventure Pool and Meeting Points again

Högevall closes the adventure pool after just over a week. And for the first time, the bathroom also closes exercise swimming for the public.

The city is investing in reorganizing instead of shutting down, says City Council Chairman Philip Sandberg (left) and City Director Christoffer Nilsson. However, several activities are closed for three weeks or more: the adventure pool, the exercise swimming for the general public, the meeting places for the elderly, the study places in the libraries and the civic offices in the towns.Image: Emil langvad

The infection situation is so worrying in Skåne that the county has received local restrictions. The municipality has now decided how they will apply in Lund:

• The Högevall, the ice rinks and the sports halls are closing to the public. In the bathhouse, this applies to the adventure pool, but also to exercise swimming. The ice rink, like the adventure pool, had been open for fall break activities, but will not reopen tomorrow Thursday. Bowling in the ballroom is another activity that is closing down.

• Schools and associations can continue their activities for children and take responsibility for this to be done safely, both for the young participants and in the stands among potential parents.

• The meeting points for the elderly that opened physically after the summer close again, and return to digital activities. The open activities of the small café will be closed and there will be no family groups either.

• The leisure centers will be open, but with a limited number of visitors.

• Libraries close reading and study places, but are open to lend books.

• The tourist office with a ticket office closes its office, but the business is available digitally.

• Citizen offices in Veberöd, Dalby and Genarp are closing. The Kristallen Citizens’ Center is open, but Lund residents are asked to contact the municipality digitally in the first instance.

The measures are valid until November 17, but are designed to be extended.

– We should be able to persevere in time. We need to find balanced compensations, but of course we are prepared to take more action if necessary, says City Board Chairman Philip Sandberg (left) Immediately after the special meeting of the city board working committee on Wednesday in the afternoon.

Can it last much longer than three weeks?

– Yes it is.

Did you make a mistake that you just opened the adventure pool and meeting points?

– No. Because when we made those decisions, we had a completely different situation in Skåne, says City Manager Christoffer Nilsson.

City Director Christoffer Nilsson highlights the perspective of children, who must be allowed to continue their activities. Therefore, associations and schools will be able to continue using both the swimming pool and the sports halls.Image: Emil langvad
