Corona situation in Germany
Germany, with 83 million people, has performed relatively well during the corona pandemic compared to most European countries. To date, around 450,000 cases have been reported and just over 10,000 people infected with COVID-19 have died.
In the last month, however, the number of new cases has increased dramatically, as in many other countries, and the infection control authority RKI has repeatedly reported daily figures of more than 10,000 new cases, which is much more than Spring Highs.
The growing number of infections has sparked fierce political debate among state leaders, who have taken different lines to combat the virus.
