On August 28, riots broke out in Rosengård after films of a burning Koran were released in the area during the day.

The burning of the Koran was organized by the Danish xenophobic party Stram Kurs. The party’s leader, Rasmus Paludan, had been prevented earlier in the day from entering Sweden and participating in the action. At the same time, he was banned from entry for two years.

The party leader is known for his hateful campaigns and previously, among other things, wrapped the Quran in bacon and burned it in immigrant-dense districts of Denmark.

Rasmus Paludan has now been arrested for attempting to travel to Germany, according to the Danish BT.

The party leader has previously written a Facebook post that on Wednesday he intended to hold a rally at Sonnenallee in Neukölln in Berlin, an area where many Muslims live.

Can go to jail

On Tuesday, however, he was prevented from entering Germany at Tegel airport in Berlin.

“While he was still on the plane, the federal police denied him entry from the State Immigration Office,” a spokesman for the Interior Ministry told Der Tagesspiegel.

– Mr Paludan did not get off the plane, but flew back to Copenhagen on Tuesday afternoon, the spokesperson continues.

According to German media, he will have been banned from entering until October 31, but he already tried to re-enter the country on Wednesday.

He was then arrested by police and now risks a fine or imprisonment of up to a year, according to BT.
