Two French news sites have posted images of a blue bag containing different types of ammunition.
By 4.30 p.m., the evacuations should have ended and life should have returned to normal in the central areas of the city.
France is high preparation after the alleged terrorist attack in early October, when a teacher was beheaded to death. The alleged perpetrator, an 18-year-old man of Chechen origin who has lived with his family in France since 2008, is said to have been outraged that 47-year-old teacher Samuel Paty taught his students about freedom of expression and then between other things, he showed cartoons of Muhammad to the students.
The murder took place in the Parisian suburb of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, near the school where Paty worked.
In recent times it has French police have had to deal with a series of bomb threats that turned out to be false, the most recent one directed at the Lyon train station in southern France last week, and another directed at the Eiffel Tower ago four weeks.
