On Monday, crown tests were held for the entire Önnereds HK women’s team.
While waiting for results, team activities are paused and no collective training will take place until the test results are negative. This is what ÖHK club director Johan Sylwan announces in a statement on the club’s website.
The background is, according to GP, that two players had symptoms after the game against Kungälv last Sunday. They were then isolated from the rest of the troop. Earlier this week, their tests showed they had Covid-19.
Despite that, Önnered, after a dialogue with the Handball Association and Peter Gentzel, CEO of Swedish Elite Handball, played a match against Västerås Irsta last Friday.
– Then the assessment was made that we could play that game without risk. The players who presented the first symptoms were not included. The assessment was that they had been isolated from the team for so long that it could be implemented, Johan Sylwan tells GP.
Moved party
After that game, two more players had symptoms and are now waiting for a response after testing themselves on Monday. Two players from the men’s squad, who have relationships with players from the women’s squad, have also been tested.
Now the activities of the women’s team have been stopped for the time being and Thursday’s match against Skövde will move.
– We will not train collectively until we have received enough negative test results, which is why the match against Skövde has also been moved, says Johan Sylwan, who now hopes that they have not become infected anymore.
– We hope and believe that it does not have to be this way. Because they haven’t met with the rest of the team after having symptoms. Pepper, pepper, we should have had more symptoms now if we had had a further spread of the infection.
Önnered is fourth in ELLA after eight rounds. It is not decided when the match with Skövde will be played.
