Prince Azim was the son of the Sultan of Brunei, and fourth in line to take the throne, until his death on Saturday.

He has been called the “Prince of Playboy”, after being seen often in festive settings, often with an arm around Hollywood celebrities. Camera flashes have captured everything from Michael Jackson and Scarlett Johansson to Naomi Campbell and Mariah Carey.

The Daily Mail calls him “fantastically rich” and according to Media, Entertainment and Arts Worldwide, he must have been worth five billion dollars, equivalent to more than 43 billion crowns, before he died.

Supported the LGBT movement

Azim is also said to have shown great support for the LGBT movement, according to the Daily Mail.

According to Muslim tradition, he was buried on Saturday, the day of his death, and Brunei has since declared a seven-day period of mourning. During that time, forms of entertainment cannot be organized in the country.

He was not married and had no children.

The cause of his death has not been officially announced, but various media outlets report that he has been treated for a serious illness for a long time.
