Police were contacted this weekend by residents of an apartment building, who found the cartridges in a bag hidden behind a sofa in a basement.
There is a suspicion that the criminals may have hidden the cartridges to collect them later, but according to Henrik Garzón of the Farsta police, there are also other possible explanations.
-It could also be that someone found the cartridges in another place, and then did not really know what to do with them, but threw them into a basement and hoped that someone else would take care of them, says Henrik Garzón.
-It is not at all strange that when cleaning farms you find old artillery pieces, or that old UN soldiers have ammunition as a souvenir at home. We investigate on a broad front, it can be basically anything.
However, the findings of hundreds of cartridges are not common, according to Henrik Garzon. Now a technical test is underway to see if they can be linked to anyone using fingerprints or DNA.
The ammunition is described as “sharp” and comes in several different calibers, exactly the ones the police don’t want to go out with. Alleged violations of the Firearms Law have been reported.
