Now the Gothia Floorball Cup is forced to make the same decision.

The tournament, which would have been played from January 3-6 and drew some 10,000 participants, cannot be completed due to the risk of further spread of the infection. Although the organizer for a long time drew up plans on how the tournament could be carried out in an infection-proof manner, the decision was made to cancel the cup after a dialogue with the Public Health Agency, Control of Infections Västra Götaland and the Swedish Sports Confederation.

“He sees it inappropriate”

– The Swedish Public Health Agency has stated that they currently find it inappropriate to carry out larger glasses where a large number of teams from different regions meet, both due to the risk of a greater spread of the infection and the burden of health care in the region, especially by Gothia Innebandy The cup is decided during Christmas weekends, when the burden of medical care is also often very great, says tournament leader Lena Rönnefors in a press release.

All registered teams will receive a refund of their registration fee.

The next edition of the tournament will be decided from January 6 to 9, 2022.
