Superettan league leader Degerfors appeared to be on his way to victory.
But in the 94th minute, Trelleborgs FF managed to tie it 1-1, even though there was one less man on the field.
– We have to blame ourselves, says Victor Edvardsen on Dplay.
Degerfors and Halmstad are the teams currently holding pole position in the battle for places at the Allsvenskan next year.
But Degerfors has some dirt in the machinery and only took the win in the last four games.
– If we don’t score, we won’t win. As simple as that. We are the ones who put ourselves in this situation. It’s a shame !, says Degerfors striker Victor Edvardsen on Dplay.
“We can blame ourselves”
The loss of points to Trelleborg was a bit awkward as the team had the upper hand when the clock ticked over 94, the last extra minute.
Then TFF also had a player, Mouhammed-Ali Dhaini, sent off after just over an hour of play.
But on a free kick, the tie came to 1-1, despite Degerfors’ massive dominance throughout the match.
– We have the opportunity to kill the game and we do not. It’s a game against goal, they park the bus in their own half of the field and we make it 1-0. Then it becomes a fixed situation and they are stronger. We have to blame ourselves, says Victor Edvardsen.
He scored his 14th goal of the season after just over 70 minutes and hopes the trend is now reversed.
– We still have it in our own hands. But until we win, it will get harder and harder, says Edvardsen.
“Meet the best team by far”
At Trelleborgs FF, which is way down the table at 14th, the feeling was good after the game to boost morale.
– Show that you can come back from everything. We know Degerfors, by far the best team in the Superettan, and we managed to take a point of pure fighting spirit for real. In terms of the game, we didn’t stand a chance, but you can always fight harder than everyone else, says defender Isak Jönsson.
Degerfors continues to lead the table, one point ahead of Halmstad and nine points ahead of J-Södra with one game less played.
