Crown deaths in new infection in Skåne, where cases are increasing dramatically

Already on Friday, the Skåne Region warned that the coronavirus had gained new momentum. By then, the number of Scans who fell ill with covid-19 had risen from 70 to 168 from one Friday to the next.
And it is not in health where the infection is spreading now, but mainly in society. According to the Skåne Region infection control doctor Eva Melanader, the infection has gained momentum in various places, including workplaces, schools, private parties, funerals and sports associations.

– It is quite simple, but also very exhausting for many. We humans are social beings, we want to meet and we want to socialize and we have had to make sacrifices for a long time.

He also said later that the public can make sacrifices.

– This year you simply have to skip “mischief or sweets”, otherwise there is a risk that it is “mischief or virus”. It is important to try to find other creative solutions to keep feeling like we celebrate both the fall break and the holidays.

Over the weekend, the spread of the virus continued to accelerate.

Two deaths in the last 24 hours

This is an increase of 14 new patients since last Friday.

– We have seen an increase in the last 14 days and it has continued well throughout the week. We knew we would also see an increase in healthcare, but we are not at the same level as last spring, Gilbert Tribo tells Kvällsposten.

During the last 24 hours, two people from Skåne have died as a result of covid-19 infection. One in Malmö and one in Lund.

– This will continue if not everyone hardens and follows the recommendations. It’s about keeping your distance and washing your hands, says Gilbert Tribo.

Tip: take it easy with alcohol

The Skåne region already has a detailed escalation plan to be able to handle a potential covid-19 storm. The climbing plan consists of several different steps, each of which opens new places of care as needed.

Despite recent increases, Skåne is still in the first step of the climbing plan.

– We are still in step 1 and we are still managing this step. We have our plan ready if it continues to increase, Per Ola Kimblad, deputy director of administration at Skåne University Hospital, told Kvällposten last Friday.

The Swedish Public Health Agency has already tightened the general guidelines in Uppsala after a large increase in the number of crown drops in the region.

Gilbert Tribo says that similar measures may be relevant in Skåne if the spread of the infection continues in the near future.

– If development continues, one can speak of local restrictions. We want to avoid this by making everyone take responsibility for themselves. When the corona broke out in earnest in Sweden on week 11, more infected were found in Scania than in Stockholm, he says, continuing:

– But the people of Skåne took a fantastic responsibility and we broke that trend. Hope we can do it again.

The Regional Council has specific advice for South Swedes:

– I want to ask for a certain restriction with alcohol, because we release certain restrictions when we drink alcohol. Because everyone who has gotten drunk in the classroom knows, then we lose the remote assessment. It is basically a matter of great personal responsibility for us to make this work, Gilbert Tribo tells Sydsvenskan.
