Protesters in Bangkok raise three fingers in the air, a symbol taken from the Hunger Games film trilogy.
Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Bangkok on Sunday to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O-Cha.
– If he does not resign, we must go out and ask him peacefully to stop, says legal activist Jatupat “Pai” Boonpattararaksa.
No major police operations were launched during the protests. Instead, a government spokesman urged people to remain calm and uphold the law.
The Prime Minister’s Office states on Twitter that Prayut Chan-O-Cha has no intention of resigning. Instead, he wants the crisis in the country to be discussed in parliament, which will hold a special session next week.
On Monday, the protesters plan to march to the German embassy to deliver a message to the king, who spends most of his time in Munich.
In addition to the resignation of the prime minister, the protesters are demanding that a new constitution be introduced and that the king’s power be limited.
