After the victory against American Justin Gaethje on Saturday night Swedish time, Chabib Nurmagomedov said he played his last game.
– This was my last fight. I don’t want to do this without my dad, said a very excited winner immediately after the game.

Nurmagomedov’s father, 32 years old.Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov passed away in July 2020 at age 57 due to complications after being infected with the coronavirus.
The fight ended after a minute and a half when Gaethje clapped his hands. The referee did not immediately see him and Gaethje had passed out when Nurmagomedov released him. Immediately afterwards, the Russian burst into tears on the carpet and was consoled by the opponent.
– Thank you my brother. You are a good man. I know that you take care of those around you. Take care of your parents, you never know what will happen tomorrow, the winner told Gaethje after the game.
– He did what was required, he’s so strong. I know he made his father proud, Gaethje said after the game.
What nobody knew it was that the star was fighting with a broken foot.
In a post-game press conference, UFC chief Dana White revealed that Nurmagomedov broke two toes and a leg on his foot just three weeks ago, something he even kept a secret from White.
– We should be happy to see him fight tonight, White says in a clip from the UFC Twitter conference call.
Several stars praised Nurmagomedov after the victory, including soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo:
“Congratulations brother. Your dad is proud of you,” Ronaldo writes on Instagram.
American MMA profile Daniel Cormier also drew attention to the victory:
“Congratulations to the greatest star in UFC history,” he wrote. Twitter .
