74 percent of Swedes wait for Biden, 14 percent for Trump.
The dislike of US President Donald Trump is compact.
– The fool in power must be eliminated for there to be order in the world, thinks one of the Swedes in the Aftonbladet Demoskop poll.
Of the 1,435 Swedes who responded to Aftonbladet Demoskop’s web survey, 702 have chosen to also comment on the choice in short free text responses. Many are critical of Trump, but not all. Some examples:
• “The shooting post must be eliminated.”
• “350 million Americans outnumber two desperate candidates.”
• “Four more years with the clown will probably mean a new world war.”
• “I love Trump.”
Demoskop CEO Karin Nelsson comments on the fact that nearly half of the survey participants wrote in free text responses.
– Shows the commitment that many have for this particular choice. Many think the United States could present two best candidates in such an important election, he says.
Trump’s favorite among SD voters
In Sweden, an overwhelming majority in almost all social groups want to see Joe Biden as the winner, a total of 74 percent. Donald Trump is only popular with voters of Swedish Democrats, the poll shows. There, 42 percent want him to take home the election, against 36 percent for Biden.
– Many in Sweden have a hard time understanding how Trump behaves as president. And the politics of the Democrats are closer to the Swedish political tradition than the politics of Trump and the Republicans, says Nelsson.

Donald Trump is less popular in Sweden in general, but with SD voters he goes home.
77 percent of Swedes think that the US presidential election is very or quite important.
– Election dominates news reports, so it’s not that surprising, says Nelsson.
Eighty-five percent of Swedes believe that the presidential election will be very or quite important for conflicts in the world. The corresponding figure for the stock market is 75 percent and for the weather 73 percent.

Biden is clearly more popular in Sweden than his opponent in the elections.
– There is hardly a conflict in the world where the United States is not involved. When it comes to the stock market, we are a small, export-dependent country that is influenced by who the president of the United States is. And when it comes to climate, Trump has pulled the United States out of the Paris Agreement, while Biden promises the country will re-enter, Nelsson says.
The poll also shows that only eleven percent of Swedes know very well what Biden’s political position is, compared to 31 percent for Trump.
– Trump is judged as a politician, for four years it has been quite clear what he represents. Biden’s line is unclear, he will bring everyone from his party’s left phalanx to disappointed Republicans who choose to vote for him. That is one of his problems, he cannot be as clear as Trump, says Karin Nelsson.
