This week, 10 of the 14 educators have been sick at home, several of them with confirmed covid.
– Of course, this is an extraordinary situation, but we have still been able to handle it well and have acted in consultation with the infection control doctors. Through our director, we have a crisis group that we have activated to support the business, says Ina Kainelainen, director of Skogen preschool, to the newspaper.
The spread of the infection in the preschool should have started in mid-October. All staff have tested themselves, but many are still awaiting test results.
Stays open
Despite the spread of the infection, the preschool has chosen not to close the business, this on the advice of Smittskydd Stockholm.
– It is a challenge with the staff, and that is why we have appealed to parents so that those who can have their children at home, and many, have chosen to do so. We care about being able to stay open and we really want to stay open. Preschool is an important place for children, especially in these times. We continue to apply the precautions we have taken during the pandemic, Ina Kainelainen tells Mitt i.
To reduce the risk of infection, all collection and removal will be done outdoors.
Preschool in Huddinge is closed
Grottan’s preschool in Huddinge was forced to close after one of the staff members was found infected with the coronavirus, something Dagens Nyheter previously reported on. Parents from the preschool were asked to pick up their children on Friday morning.
– It is a person who has tested positive and more than shows symptoms and is waiting for a response or a sample, says Malin Bengtsson, interim director of Grottan preschool.
There must be several employees in different departments who have symptoms. The decision to close the preschool was made in consultation with Smittskydd Stockholm and the Huddinge Municipality Administration for Children and Education.
