STOCKHOLM / GOTHENBURG. Unsurprisingly, Latvia had no chance against Sweden.

After three goals in twelve minutes, Blågult finally won 7-0.

– It’s always fun to score goals, says the game’s only two-goal scorer, Pauline Hammarlund, who was on the national team for the first time in four years.

Latvia lacked three players, one for personal reasons and two because they needed to stay home and work.

Under those conditions, it didn’t get any easier for the runner-up in the Swedish European Championship standings.

The blue-yellow certainly lacked some of its best players as well, but played less of a role.

Aim already after 52 seconds

Already after 52 seconds, Juventus player Lina Hurtig nodded her head at the first goal. Just nine minutes later, Damallsvenskan shooting queen Anna Anvegård rose to 2-0 and then Olivia Schough fixed a brutal 3-0 in just twelve minutes of play.

– We talked about it before, I don’t remember when I last scored. It was very nice. I forgot how it feels, says Schough.

Magdalena Eriksson made it 4-0 in the 27th minute before Sweden suffered a setback from the injury of Lina Hurtig.

Pauline Hammarlund ended the dominant half with a 5-0 header and became the only two-goal scorer of the match with another goal in the second.

– It’s always fun to score goals. I’m a player who should be in the area and make it difficult for opponents, says Hammarlund.

The injured forward has not started for the national team in four years and he was happy and satisfied with his confidence.

– This year I have had a whole season without injury problems. I’ve gained confidence and playtime and I’ve grown up with it. “I have played for three years with flaws,” says the 26-year-old.

Curmark scorer on debut

Substitute Filippa Curmark closed the game on goal with a hit on her national team debut when she made it 7-0 and was praised by team captain Peter Gerhardsson.

– When we decided to remove Seger, it was natural to welcome her. She is tough and playful, and has a good touch. She has shown that she wants to get involved and fight at this level, she says.

After the victory, Blågult continues to lead the qualifying group for the European Championship before the group final against Iceland on Tuesday, a match that will be absolutely decisive for who reduces the direct place to the European Championship 2022.

Krossen improves on an already good goal difference for Sweden, which may be important for the 2022 European Championship quest. Sweden now has three points and eleven more goals in Iceland (which has one game less played).

The best group runners-up also have a chance to qualify for the championship.
