The ad reopens to viewers in the arenas, but there will be fewer viewers than previously announced by the government.
In late September, the government proposed an increase from 50 to 500 people in the sports stands on October 15. But a week before it went into effect, the proposal was withdrawn due to the contagion situation in the country.
Now the audience can enter, but only 300 spectators.
All spectators must be seated and the new rules go into effect on November 1.
Spectators should have a defined seat and stay clear of others.
– At least one meter away from each other and the conditions must be created to maintain that distance during the event. Two people in the same company can sit together, says Sports Minister Amanda Lind (MP).
You can lower the limit again
The Prime Minister is clear that the sports movement must adhere to the rules, so that the spread of infection does not increase.
– If that is not the case, the government will not hesitate to adjust to 50 again, says Stefan Löfven.
In addition, local authorities will be able to detain spectators in arenas and at events where the risk of spreading the infection is assessed to be great.
It was on March 11 that the government banned politics in the arenas due to the risk of spreading the infection.
The crown situation has created a major crisis in Swedish sports because most clubs and organizers rely on audience income to manage their finances.
SHL Executive Director Jenny Silfverstrand welcomes the government’s decision, which allows the law to accommodate 300 spectators.
– 300 is better than 50 and I think they say it themselves. They see that we are prepared and we want to take responsibility. It feels good that we can start showing it too.
Silverstrand sees the decision as an intermediate level that may lead to more public support later.
– I also hope that the work we do now, when we have this opportunity, can also show that we can attract a larger audience later. Because we can do it, she says.
TT: Have you said before that it doesn’t matter financially even if you are allowed to bring 500?
– That’s all, from an economic perspective is that perhaps we can meet some of all who have bought a season ticket. It is important that they enter.
Swedish elite football secretary general Mats Enquist to Fotbollskanalen:
– If we answer this, the next step will also be discussed. For us, it has been important to go from a zero position where nothing can be discussed to a position where we can now show that we can start with 300. Of course it is not a final solution, but it is a first step and it is important. Now we are up and running. This is awaited by us for a long time.
Local rules
Several in the sports movement have criticized the audience limitation as too rigid. The Swedish Public Health Agency, among other things, has targeted public transport congestion on the way to parties as an argument for restrictions.
But representatives of the sport have described it as a metropolitan phenomenon and demanded local restrictions.
Swedish elite football has also presented its own proposal on how many spectators could be accommodated in the different stadiums, depending on how the public could be carried in the different sections.
For some time now, various clubs have been experimenting with allowing 50 people to enter the stands, to stay within the framework of the law on public gatherings.
