Now it is once again forbidden to perform public dance events with more than 50 people. This was announced by the government at a press conference. They believe it has been difficult for nightclubs to run their businesses in a contagious way.
– Too many deficiencies and too much congestion have been reported too many times, says Stefan Löfven.
– Here, the medical staff work day and night. So it is disrespectful for the same staff to open the newspapers and see noisy images of nightclubs.
“Is not sufficient”
The government defines a dance event as an event in which participants have the opportunity to dance to music, but must make a general evaluation. Factors that can determine whether it is a dance event include the presence of a dance floor and a DJ. Organizers who violate the ban can be penalized.
– It is not enough to walk from one place to another at parties and contribute to a greater spread of the infection while increasing the number of patients, says the Minister of the Interior, Mikael Damberg (S).
However, restaurants can still organize other types of events, such as concerts and conferences.
Set the maximum limit
The government also wants to adjust legislation on public gatherings with seated audiences, such as sporting events and theatrical performances. Previously, there was talk of increasing this maximum limit to 500 people; now, the limit will be set at 300 people.
– The County Administrative Board may also issue local regulations so that fewer participants are allowed. This applies to both fewer than 300 at seated events and fewer than 50 at other public events, Löfven says.
Culture and Sports Minister Amanda Lind (MP) says they want to allow more events, but without increasing the risk of spreading the infection.
– We need to find solutions that are more accurate and work for a longer period of time, he says.
The government is also proposing to expand the law on temporary infection control measures in restaurants.
