Two weeks after the negative message in the question from the audience, the long-awaited decision for sport and culture arrived. As of November 1, an audience of 300 is allowed, if they are seated.
This has been the tours around the audience theme since March.
March 11th: The government bans gatherings of more than 500 people. The Swedish Football Association decides that the quarterfinals of the men’s Swedish Cup on the same weekend will be played without an audience, as will the men’s international home game against Russia on March 28.
March 27th: The government is tightening the ban, which now applies to gatherings of more than 50 people. The announcement means in practice that spectators of all sports at all levels in Sweden are arrested.
August 12: Damallsvenska Piteå will be the first elite team to let 50 spectators into their matches.
August 21: The government announces that it is preparing a relaxation of the ban on meetings, provided it can be done in a contagious way. The idea is that the new rules take effect from October 1.
August 28: In response to the query, the Swedish Public Health Agency proposes that the limit be raised to a maximum of 500 people.
24th September: Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S) announces that the government is hoping to introduce relief for, among other things, the public at sporting events. The reason is a further spread of the infection in society.
September 29th: The audience limit of a maximum of 50 people remains at least until October 15, announces the government. Thereafter, it can be increased to 500 people for seated audiences, if the infection situation allows.
October 8th: The government announces that there will be no increase in public on October 15 due to the current contagion situation, but that a new decision will be made as soon as possible.
October 22: The government decides to allow 300 spectators, if they will sit down, starting November 1.
