Trump tried to change course: he jumped into the Russian barrel

President Trump hoped that the revelation of Joe Biden’s son would be one of those October surprises that will turn the election wind completely around.

Instead, Rudy Giuliani’s reporting of Hunter Biden’s email has failed the Trump campaign, who is again accused of having slept with the Russians.

It was the New York Post that in a large-scale article last week claimed that Joe Biden’s son Hunter offered business contact meetings with his father, then vice president, as a form of bribery. Hunter was then a member of the board of Burisma, an energy company operating in Ukraine.

The newspaper claimed to have found these emails after a person turned in a computer for repair in Biden’s hometown of Wlimington, Delaware. The owner of the company is not sure, but believes it could have been Hunter Biden.

When no one recovered the computer after three months, the owner of the company reviewed the contents and then contacted the FBI, but also made a copy that he gave to Rudy Giuliani, now Trump’s personal legal representative.

The story is, to put it mildly, complicated.

There are questions about whether the computer even belonged to Hunter Biden, as well as whether it was actually Hunter Biden who wrote the email the newspaper reveals.

Initially, the revelation was widely reported in pro-Trump conservative outlets such as Fox News. The president has lifted the email at his election rallies and has accused the Biden family of being corrupt and criminal.

But the response in the big media landscape has been very good, not to mention the coldness. Twitter and Facebook have stopped sharing the NY Post articles on the grounds that they constitute misinformation.

Russian agent

Instead, the alleged scandal has failed Trump’s own campaign.

FBI sources say federal police have launched an investigation into Rudy Giuliani being subjected to intelligence operations by Russian agents. Agents provide Giuliani with misinformation, which he then passes on to President Trump.

In other words, Giuliani would be a useful idiot to the Russians. Its purpose is as in the 2016 elections for Trump to be elected president.

Untitled sources cited in the New York Times by several influential media outlets claim that the US intelligence service previously warned President Trump that the Russians are providing Giuliani with false information.

Memorable readers will recall that the final sprint of the 2016 election campaign was dominated by the FBI who resumed an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email. Something that Donald Trump took as income to call the authorities in his electoral meetings to put Clinton behind bars.

Now the same cry is heard again at Trump’s election rallies, but now it is Joe Biden and his family who are the target. The difference this time around is that few really take “revelation” seriously.

At least no evidence has yet emerged that the then vice president improperly favored his son and his business in Ukraine.

Hide the truth

There is still a sense of deja vu in this story. During the 2016 election campaign, the Trump campaign was accused of having allied with Russia to get Trump elected.

In the end, special investigator Robert Mueller did not consider that there was sufficient evidence to recommend the prosecution of Trump.

However, several US intelligence agencies have repeatedly stated that Russia tried to influence the outcome of the US elections. The accusations again directed against Russia in this election.

Unless new and compromising information emerges, it appears that Trump himself loses the most by repeating his “lock them up” strategy against Biden. His core voters love the accusations, but the new voters Trump needs don’t seem drawn to the message.

Many believe Trump will take Hunter’s email tonight about the latest debate against Joe Biden in a last desperate attempt to turn the electoral wind to his own advantage.

Trump wants to give the impression that the mainstream media, along with Twitter and Facebook, are hiding the truth to protect Joe Biden.
