Elsa Alm, 20, travels by train from Gothenburg to Stockholm. But right now they are standing still.
The reason is that the police have decided that no train can enter Gnesta, after an alleged dangerous object. Initially, the Swedish Transport Administration declared that it was a bomb threat against a commuter train.
– It was a person who called and observed a suspiciously dangerous object on a commuter train, says Dennis Johansson Strömberg, spokesman for the Eastern Police Region.
The train and station have been evacuated and blocked and the bomb squad is on its way.
– There are police patrols on site to investigate this, says Dennis Johansson Strömberg.
SL confirms that at the request of the police they have stopped a train at Gnesta station shortly after noon.
– It affects both long-distance and regional trains, but also commuter trains. We will go around the trains in Mölnbo, says Aleksander Krajisnik, SL press spokesman.
SL has ordered replacement buses
For commuter trains, there is a stop on line 48 between Gnesta and Mölnbo. Trains still run between Mölnbo and the center of Södertälje, but they say there are canceled departures.
SL has ordered replacement buses and the latest police forecast is that traffic may start again at 3:00 pm.
Stockholm C – Norrköping / Nässjö / Malmö, Stockholm C – Katrineholm / Hallsberg / Karlstad / Gothenburg and SL-Pendeln Södertälje Centrum – Gnesta.
Elsa Alm says that she received the information through the train’s speakers.
– We are not allowed to enter due to a bomb threat. They yelled it out loud and said we could stay still for several hours.
SJ leads the traffic
The plan now is for the train to return to Flen and travel through Eskilstuna towards Stockholm, instead of passing through Flen.
The train stop affects the sections Stockholm C – Norrköping / Nässjö / Malmö, Stockholm C – Katrineholm / Hallsberg / Karlstad / Gothenburg and the SL Södertälje Centrum – Gnesta commuter train.
The Swedish Transport Administration forecast is that there will be a stop until 3pm.
