“The message could have arrived earlier”
The decision, which involves easing restrictions for people over 70, is a wise one, but late, says psychiatry professor Ingmar Skoog.
Corona advice for over 70s is updated.
Today came the message that more than 70 people were waiting for. The Minister of Social Affairs, Lena Hallengren (S), announced that people over 70 years old and other people in risk groups should be covered by the same recommendations as the rest of the population.
– This is what was requested a long time ago, already in May. It is great that they have assimilated and changed the message, it is very, very wise, says Ingmar Skoog, professor of psychiatry and director of the Center for Aging and Health at the University of Gothenburg.
Ingmar Skoog’s only objection is that the decision was unnecessarily waited.
– You could have done it earlier. There has been data that has shown that there are no special reasons to keep these rules for older people as long as they are followed, says Ingmar Skoog.
