Today more is known about the coronavirus, according to the Minister of Social Affairs. Therefore, everyone in Sweden now has the same responsibility to protect themselves and others.
The Swedish Public Health Agency presented general guidelines for countering the spread of the infection in Sweden on April 1. At the time, people over 70 were advised to limit their physically close contacts with other people as much as possible and to avoid staying in places with many people.
Since then, the recommendations have held firm, despite many expecting relief for the elderly as early as May. The tense healthcare situation led the Swedish Public Health Agency to choose to stick with the prevailing line.
A total of 5,929 people have died after being infected with COVID-19 in Sweden.
