It is fourth and fifth grade students from Fjällboskolan in Gothenburg who can stay home after several students and tutors fell ill with covid-19, something that GP be the first to rewrite.
– I have seen that more and more people have symptoms and get sick, not only students but also tutors. This is an indication that things are not going in the right direction, says Yvonne Alhäll, director of Fjällboskolan.
It was school counselor Helen Odenjung (left) and infection control in Västra Götaland who made the decision on the basis of the principal’s reports.
Are the students seriously ill?
– They are sick and at home with symptoms, but not so bad that they had to go to the hospital, says Yvonne Alhäll.
Timely with the fall break
Distance education for the two years will continue for the rest of the week. But the following week is fall break, which could help curb the infection.
– Last spring, when it was Easter break, we saw a huge benefit. When the infection increased in other parts of society, we did not see the same development in school.
Could it be relevant to teach more annual distance courses?
– I have no idea, but I hope not. I hope this measure will take effect and if the infection continues to increase, we will have to do a new assessment, says Yvonne Alhäll.
