Last week the last negotiations between the Swedish Business Confederation, PTK and LO broke down after LO said no to an agreement approved by the other parties.
The LO union, IF Metall, has said they can continue negotiations on their own.
– There may be more unions willing to join. If there is such a development that multiple unions repeatedly choose to come together and bargain for the pieces that the union thought were missing, then we get a new standard in the Swedish labor market that everyone else must relate to, says Susanna Gideonsson, for DN.
She does not completely close the door to future negotiations through LO, but says it is not possible to prevent affiliates from addressing the issue themselves.
Susanna Gideonsson in the next step
It is currently unclear what the next step will be on the issue of changes in labor law. If there is no agreement between the social partners, the proposal of the latest disputed investigation will become law, according to the January agreement. This, in turn, has led the Left Party to threaten to mistrust the government.
One possibility is that the government will go ahead with the agreement approved by the Confederation of Swedish Companies and PTK.
– If the government goes ahead with the parts that are really good, then we would not shout. But if they agree on parts that really hurt Swedish job security, we will not tolerate it, Susanna Gideonsson tells DN.
