Plans for a once and for all cycle path between Hörby and Ludvigsborg seemed to flow for a long time. But now it has become a dead end. After the estimated costs have increased significantly, the municipality wants to suspend the project.
Those who were looking forward to a pedestrian and bicycle lane between Hörby and Ludvigsborg will likely be disappointed. Now the municipality wants to cancel the project.
There have long been plans for an improved cycling and walking route between Hörby and Ludvigsborg.
Two and a half years ago, the plans took a step forward, when the Swedish Transport Administration and the Hörby municipality signed an agreement that meant that the Swedish Transport Administration and the municipality would share the costs of the first two sections. The third would be the responsibility of the Hörby municipality itself.
But now everything is much more uncertain.
The Swedish Transport Administration carried out a new calculation, in which the costs for the municipality of Hörby would end up in a total of between 17 and 20 million SEK.
That is a substantial increase compared to the estimate in the first agreement, where Hörby’s price would be between 11 and 14 million.
The cost increase is due in part to the fact that a tunnel on Highway 13 turned out to be more expensive than expected to build. The Swedish Transport Administration also refers to the fact that the price situation has generally increased since the first, more sketchy calculation was made.
Now city officials have suggested to politicians that they should not go ahead with the plans.
– When it becomes much more expensive than you thought, then you should have the courage to say enough, says Peter Siilak, acting director of the public housing administration.
The case will be resolved later this fall. in the municipal board. President Cecilia Bladh in Zito (SD) says that the political government is of the same opinion as the officials. On the other hand, it may be relevant to have an improved pedestrian and cycle lane in the section ahead, but not within the framework of this project.
