Companies that, according to the press releaseHi3G Access (Tre), Net4Mobility (Tele2 and Telenor), Telia Sweden and Teracom will be able to participate in the license auctions in the 3.5 GHz and 2.3 GHz bands.
The auction is scheduled for November 10 and is expected to last about 10 days.
– I am very happy to have four approved bidders in the auctions. This ensures good competition, rapid expansion and good development of the service, says Dan Sjöblom, Managing Director of PTS in the press release.
Security control
A condition for the companies that will participate in the auctions is that they cannot use products from the Chinese Huawei or ZTE.
The condition is the result of a preliminary examination in consultation with the Armed Forces and the Security Police, in accordance with the new legislation that entered into force on January 1, 2020. The objective is to ensure that the use of the radio does not put the security of Sweden is in jeopardy.

Several countries, led by the United States, have banned Huawei equipment to expand 5G. This after allegations that Huawei has close ties to the Communist Party of China. The fear is that the Chinese government could steal valuable information through the company’s technology. Huawei has categorically denied that the company had close ties to the Chinese government.
Four years to clean up Chinese technology
Swedish mobile operators today have a large number of Huawei equipment on Swedish mobile networks. Huawei is also the world’s largest provider of mobile networks, since it was renamed Ericsson a few years ago.
