Shortly after one in the morning, the rescue service and the police were alerted to the burning of a car on Boplatsgatan in Fosie Malmö.
At the Tesla electric car company premises, several cars caught fire and heavy smoke spread from the place. Initially, there was a risk that the fire would spread to more cars.
– It burns in seven or eight electric vehicles, Håkan Månsson, internal commander of the South Rescue Service, tells SVT News.
During the night, the rescue service issued a VMA, an important message to the public, urging everyone in the area to enter and close windows and doors. There was a risk that fire in car batteries would generate toxic gases, but the warning could be withdrawn soon.
– They have had a discussion about where this smoke is going, but the alarm officer has judged that there has been no danger to the public, says Conny Strömberg.
At 03:00 the fire went out. Police suspect that the fire started and have produced a report of serious fire damage.
– It is the most logical considering that they could not be burned, says Conny Strömberg.
