A tsunami watch has been issued for Alaska’s coastal areas since an earthquake shook the sea.
It was early afternoon in Alaska, just before 11 p.m. Swedish time, that an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.4 struck in the sea off southwest Alaska, writes the Anchorage Daily News.
The US Tsunami Warning Center has issued a tsunami warning for much of the coastal area southwest of the state’s largest city, Anchorage.
According to the KTUU television channel, residents were asked to move to higher areas.
