On Thursday, SVT decided to stop two already-recorded episodes of this year’s “On the track” season in which the school leader Hamid Zafar participated. The reason was DN’s disclosure that he, under a pseudonym, has for several years been disparaging about Jews and gays online.
SVT has now decided to record two new episodes of the show, something that SVT Nyheter Väst was the first to report. Radio hosts Thomas Nordegren and Louise Epstein replace the team with Frida Boisen and Hamid Zafar.
Louise Epstein tells DN that on Friday they asked him to participate in the program.
– We couldn’t say no to this. They want to help public service, and many people like to watch “På Spåret”, says Louise Epstein and continues:
– We are not prepared at all, but we must do it in a good mood. It’s a little scary, it’s easy to forget almost everything you can when you sit in the small cage.
What is it like to replace Hamid Zafar and Frida Boisen?
– It is clear that SVT could not broadcast the episodes. So we do it, it’s fun to do this.
How should you prepare?
– We won’t have time to do that. My kids asked some questions from a game of “On the Track” last Saturday. So I couldn’t do much. We should try to connect some capital letters on the train ride, says Louise Epstein.
Thomas Nordegren and Louise Epstein leads to SR’s daily show “Nordegren & Epstein”. In the group stage, the new team will face couples Farah Abadi and Johan Glans, as well as Sanna Lundell and Plura Jonsson.
The opposing team agreed to replay their group games, says Christina Hill, SVT’s program manager in Gothenburg.
– When it became clear that we needed to highlight the shows, of course there was the possibility of airing two less shows, but we wanted to make a serious attempt to replace the shows, he tells DN.
The recording of the new episodes will take place during the week. The places the show travels to are new.
– After a couple of days of hard work by the editorial staff, we have now found a solution that feels great, says Christina Hill.
Farah Abadi says DN it feels boring to have to replay a game.
– I was so nervous last time and it was so nice when the episodes were recorded, but I try to think that “On the track” is not about me and my feelings, says Farah Abadi.
Was it natural to accept to play the game again?
– No he was not. In fact, it felt horrible to have to do that, especially since I was happy with my effort. At the same time we had a good discussion with SVT and they did not demand that we agree, but they were very nice about this. It will feel more difficult if you are now unlucky with questions, but I think in a positive way. I’ll probably be warm in my clothes next time, says Farah Abadi.
“On the track” premieres on November 27. The semi-finals, second chance and final have yet to be registered.
