Internal rift in liberals over

The social partners could not agree on the last issue.

Now Löfven is threatened from two sides: partly from the Left Party, which threatens to distrust if the latest investigation becomes law, partly from Nyamko Sabuni, who could break the January agreement.

– I am not responsible for Stefan Löfven’s right to take power, he previously told Expressen’s Maggie Strömberg.

When Expressen talks to various local L-tops, an image of a split party emerges.

Gunnar Nordmark, president of the union in Kronoberg county, believes that it is good that Nyamko Sabuni “has clearly shown what they want”, but that the party may also need a commitment.

– Sometimes you have to look at a bigger whole. We have less than two years until the next elections and we are in one of the most serious social crises that the country has had. So we don’t need a government crisis on top of that, he says and continues:

– I am completely convinced that the Liberals, like the other parties, will assume the required responsibility.

Several comrades from the party support him.

“The question is not that important”

– The issue is not so important that it is necessary to take combat measures today. We can keep looking for it and have it so important without having to cause a government crisis. And especially not now at an already tense moment during the current pandemic, says Pär Johnson, president of the union in Skaraborg, who emphasizes that he does not speak for the entire district.

– Actually, nobody is interested in having a crisis of government when there is so little time until the next elections, says Anders Rickman, president of the union in Jönköping.

However, Jönköping will back the party leadership regardless of which path Nyamko Sabuni chooses, but within the party there are divided opinions according to Rickman:

– There are different wills and it is quite healthy.

Hannah: “very strong majority”

L-top Anna Starbrink, regional councilor for health and medical care in Stockholm, has criticized the party line in a high-profile blog post. She writes:

“The benefit of sticking to the research proposal on labor law in all its details is not proportional to the damage to the labor market, business life and, above all, the daily lives of people who run the risk of causing political chaos” .

According to Anders Rickman, Jönköping’s manufacturing industry would benefit enormously from the new legislation.

– In the metropolitan areas, they may think that it is not prioritized so much, but we do not have that discussion in Jönköping, but here we support the party leadership on the matter. This is an important issue and it is important to note that the agreement will last.

Nyamko Sabuni herself believes she has strong support.

– There is a large majority in our party to maintain and implement the January agreement. If it is the case that it cannot be fully implemented, there is also a majority because cooperation then no longer exists, leader L told Ekot on Sunday.

Member of Parliament Robert Hannah perceives there is a “very strong majority” for the party’s leadership line.

– We entered into an agreement and the agreement will stand. This has been the basic premise from the beginning.

I can’t see commitments

Pär Löfstrand, president of the Liberals’ Union in Jämtland-Härjedalen, also believes that Sabuni “has the right entry”.

– It is not the liberals who can answer for by-elections and things like that. We must respect the policy that we have agreed to in the government.

– I find it difficult to see that you can give in on those points, I think it’s almost impossible.
