Very few Swedes want to get vaccinated against covid-19

All over the world, people are waiting for a coronavirus vaccine, but in Sweden there is a question.

In a recent survey by the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), about 50 percent of the Swedish respondents intend to get vaccinated.

According to Bernice Aronsson, it would be necessary to vaccinate more people to create immunity in society.

– It has to be a little higher, I think. 50, 60 and preferably 70 percent, he tells the radio.

“It remains in the memory”

One possible explanation for the Swedish doubts may be the swine flu vaccination in 2009, where several people suffered from narcolepsy due to the vaccine.

– It remains in the memory and I understand it perfectly, says Richard Bergström, Public Health Agency and government vaccine coordinator, on the radio.

Bernice Aronsson believes that anyone in doubt should wait to make a decision until there is more knowledge and information about it.

– Keep listening, assimilate information, discuss with each other, have this as a living question and you will move in some direction. Because I think it’s very hard work to make a decision that is only based on being worried, he tells Godmorgon, the world.
