Currently, much of Skistar’s facilities are reserved for the winter, even though it is far from open.

City epidemiologist Anders Tegnell cautions that local restrictions may apply and holidays may be affected.

– We must be prepared for trips to be canceled on very short notice, Anders Tegnell tells Aftonbladet TV.

When the spread of the infection was greatest in the community during the spring, the ski resorts were forced to close again.

The Skistar company has many facilities in Sweden and there have been fears before winter. But instead, the pressure has been greater than in a long time and sales have increased by 10 percent, compared to the same period last year. But that doesn’t mean it will be the year-end figure.

– We believe more that there is a tendency for people to book early. The trend is also that travel within Sweden has increased. Of course, covid has taken it, says Stefan Sjöstrand, CEO of Skistar.

Anders Tegnell says that traveling this winter can be problematic, even if it’s only to the Swedish mountains.

– If the spread of the infection increases in specific places, these trips can be very unfortunate to take this winter.

Arrangements have been made to allow guests to keep their distance, making Stefan Sjöstrand feel safe. Skistar has also held consultation meetings with, among others, city councils, councils and health care at their destinations.

– We’ve been through everything from ski lifts to restaurant visits to make sure people can keep their distance.

At the same time, the company has prepared for the fact that anything can happen.

– We have planned different scenarios; otherwise it would be strange when we are in the middle of a pandemic, says Stefan Sjöstrand.

Apres ski was a hot debate when the crown hit this spring and the behavior of the guests was criticized from many quarters, something that has now been addressed. Skistar does not organize its own après ski, but in dialogue with the restaurants, this year no traditional après ski is planned.

– Instead, we have developed a “hang up after shift”. There, guests can hang out and drink something good, but they must sit down. It will be a different experience than it has been historically.

In the ongoing pandemic, reserving insurance can be important to guests and at Skistar there are a few different rules to follow.

– Without insurance you have 42 days before the opportunity to cancel and with insurance you have 21 days of open purchase. If you get sick after that, you can get your money back with a medical certificate.

To make it possible to carry out the winter season well, much depends on the guests.

– It is extremely important that guests stay home at the slightest symptom. It’s about being supportive of society, concludes Sjöstrand.
